Opposition Will Always Be There

No matter what you do, no matter how good you are or how grateful and aware of others you are, the opposition will always be there. Someone will be there to show their jealousy at your new success, or to tell you what it doesn’t matter, or why it won’t work. When an opportunity opens up for you, rest assured there will be adversaries.  That’s OK, disregard them and move forward.  If they don’t represent or support what you’re trying to do, move on without them.  Don’t even listen to them or let them finish their sentence.

When I was a teenager, I had the opportunity to play keyboards in a rock band.  Now mind you, I played the piano, among other instruments, but had never really played with a band.  This band needed a keyboard player, and I thought, hey, I play rock piano in my basement regularly, I can do this.  I had confidence that this was not only going to be fun but very successful.  When my brother found out that I would do this, he was right there to deflate my confidence.  He said, “You don’t even know how to do this.”  But I was determined to move forward anyway, seeing that part of his negativity resulted from jealousy.

What am I saying?   Find that confidence, take the opportunity, and make it the best that you have to offer at the time.  Does it have to be perfect?  Will it be perfect?  No, and that doesn’t matter.  Get out there, pursue your dreams and have fun doing so.  See yourself in victory as having an outstanding performance, and you will do just that.  Have you ever seen someone perform, say athletically, or maybe give a speech, and you knew that they had some challenges.  But they were so confident and were having such a great time that it didn’t matter in the end.  You gave them your vote for an excellent performance.

Michael Hyatt and Daniel Harkavy say, “You have a gift–your life.  What will you do with it?  Get out there no matter what and do your best, and have fun doing it.  You will find more support than you realize from others.
